Scott Summers is a Black American artist who works with tissue paper and recycled materials to create very meticulous paper sculpture comic script illustrations about the Black American experience and mental health.
Scott is a North Carolina based artist who journey as a visual artist began after a tragic accident at his job in July of 2011were he was in a chemical spill that left him permanently light sensitive with 2nd degree burns in his mouth and throat. Leading him to spiral into a dark depression where he discovered his ability to create art in a different way to cope with what happened to him. Taking months to years to complete one single piece of work due to his light sensitivity and mental health.
